A 57-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision on the Ballyeaston Road in Ballyclare, County Antrim on 15 August 2025. A man in his 50s was killed and a woman in her 40s sustained serious injuries in the incident. Hundreds of protesters marched along Brighton seafront on Saturday to oppose Home Office plans to close a hotel housing asylum seekers. David Fraser Flinton, 45, from Scarborough, has been jailed for 12 months after admitting five breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order and one offence of trespassing on a railway. Two south London men have been jailed for shooting a 30-year-old in the face at point-blank range outside a nightclub in Bexleyheath on 4 January following a minor altercation. Marvin Bulle, 33, was jailed for 35 years for attempted murder after being caught on ambulance dash camera footage shooting the victim, who was left with a bullet lodged in his spine and nearly lost sight in one eye after spending eight days on a critical care ward. Carlos Parks, 35, the getaway driver who crashed 100 metres from the scene, was sentenced to 20 years for causing grievous bodily harm with intent. A detective inspector described the victim's survival as 'nothing short of a miracle'. Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber has written to the Home Secretary expressing concern that plans to house 1,265 asylum seekers at the former Ministry of Defence site in Piddington, Bicester will 'increase crime'. He said police forces 'must expect an increase in crime' if the proposals proceed, and that 'such a large population of single men' would bring greater risk of violent and sexual offences. Mr Barber is calling on the Home Office to fund additional policing in the area, warning that without it Thames Valley Police will face 'an unacceptable cost to local taxpayers and a reduction in policing services elsewhere'.

Thames Valley Police have issued a warning after receiving multiple reports of aggressive and abusive cyclists and e-bike riders in Didcot. The warning follows an incident on 7 September when a man riding an electric dirt-style bike allegedly threatened to hit a dog walker with his bike and run over their dog near Didcot Road and Great Western Park. Police said several further reports of similar behaviour have been made since an appeal was issued on 12 October.

Police are investigating two attempted burglaries reported in villages near Ludlow within two hours of each other in the early hours of Thursday, October 15. Nothing was taken. Around two hours later in Bitterley, two men believed to be in their 20s attempted to break into a garage after gathering items including a spade. A judge has criticised a cocaine-affected driver for 'cynically exploiting' his own child in an attempt to avoid jail after causing crashes. The judge described the conduct as 'nothing short of a cynical manipulation of that vulnerable child in order to put pressure on the sentencing judge'.
